AUDITIONS

Schuylkill Valley Regional Dance Company holds open Nutcracker auditions annually in August.

AUDITIONS FOR OUR 2023 PRODUCTION:

​

Sunday, August 27th, 2023

12:00-12:30 Ages 6-7

12:30-1:15 Ages 8-10

1:15-2:30 Ages 11+

2:30-3:00 Dancers on pointe

All students in the Phoenixville and Tri-County area with dance experience are invited to audition! 

​

Please read the Audition Information (REVISED 8/15/23 - dates have changed!) for more details about our production this year as well as everything needed for the auditions. Each dancer will need to have filled out an online Audition Form (NEW 7/22/23) to register. Please submit your Audition Form on or before Sat., Aug 26th. All dancers must have payment brought to the audition - cash or check (made out to SVRDC) only.

Requirements:

​

  • Dancers must be 6 years of age by the date of the audition.

  • Please download and read the Audition Information and fill out the online Audition Form above. 

  • Dancers DO NOT need to attend the company's official school, Kimberton Dance Academy, but should take a minimum of 1 ballet classes per week at any studio. Students are required to keep up with their training in the summer by attending 1 ballet class per week.

Raising the Barre for Diversity Scholarship

Applications must be submitted by Aug 5th, 2023

As part of the mission to promote the highest standard in dance education and performance, SVRDC Board of Directors is continuing with the 2023 Raising the Barre for Diversity Scholarship.  Our goal is to support any students’ disciplined study of dance and provide access to high quality dance education as well performance opportunities offered by SVRDC.  This year, two $350.00 scholarships are available.  Each one is designed to fund the $350.00 Audition and Participation fees for the 2023 Nutcracker production. As company members, scholarship recipients and their families are expected to adhere to all established fundraising and participation policies.

 

Eligibility Guidelines

  • Any dancers ages 6 thru 18 by August 27, 2023, are invited to apply.

  • Dancer must prove enrollment in 1 summer ballet class.

  • Dancer needs to demonstrate a sincere, dedicated desire to be a member of SVRDC.

  • Dancer must communicate a love of dance as a performing art and enjoy live performances.


Scholarship Application Instructions:

Please submit all material to svrdcdiversity@gmail.com by Aug 5, 2023.

 

Each applicant MUST submit:

  • A completed Application Form

  • An age-appropriate essay or video about themselves, why they want to participate in the Nutcracker, and what diversity they would bring to the SVRDC. Submissions need not exceed 1 page or 4 minutes. 

  • A signed Scholarship Agreement Form.  This form indicates dancers, and their families will adhere to the requirement to use awarded funds for their intended purpose. This includes a summer dance class AND becoming a cast member for the 2023 SVRDC Nutcracker Production.
