Dear Dancers, Families, Friends, and Supporters of SVRDC:
As you may know, we had an amazingly successful production of the Nutcracker in 2013, snowstorm and all. We’d like to thank everyone connected for their hard work and support. We would also like to thank everyone for the support that has been shown to SVRDC over the years.
The five of us (Kathy, Heidi, John, Janet, and Brittany) have been discussing our 2014 options for several months. We are announcing that Brittany Flaherty-Ryan has decided to concentrate her efforts toward building and growing her Kimberton Dance Academy business, and is leaving her position as SVRDC Artistic Director. We certainly understand Brittany’s position, and wish her nothing but success moving forward. We thank Brittany for putting together a truly wonderful Nutcracker production for us in 2013.
To that end, the Board of Directors of SVRDC has decided to enter into a period of reorganization. We will continue to keep our website and Facebook account active, and entertain questions and ideas there. We will be moving out of our Franklin Commons office by the end of April 2014. This is a new path for our 501c(3) non-profit organization, and one with many unknowns. This, of course, means that there will be no 2014 SVRDC production of The Nutcracker.
This has by no means been an easy decision for those of us remaining on the Board. Over the years, while our productions have grown, the number of Board members has decreased. Our efforts to recruit additional members were not as successful as we had hoped. The amount of time, demands, and the commitment required were an apparent deterrent to others. Consequently, the demands on those Board members who have chosen to remain have grown with each production undertaken. Additionally, while exciting, 2013 brought us tremendous change, demands of personal time, learning curves, and stress. We have decided that this is the time to review and regroup SVRDC’s path forward.
We cannot express fully how much we loved the successful blending of our new and old dancer families, and appreciated their generous support in order to make our 2013 Nutcracker such a success. We are proud of our accomplishments; we could not have been successful without all of you. For that, we will always be grateful.
From all of us at SVRDC, we thank you for your continued support and patience as we work to determine our new path. Please check www.svrdc.org or our Facebook page for updates.
